Our Main Goals
Support
We want to provide all the support and encouragement to everyone that affiliates with Down Syndrome and their
families.
Promote
We also like to provide families with current information on Down Syndrome. Promote Public awareness of Down Syndrome.
Inform
We gladly provide information, advocacy and
support concerning all aspects of life for individuals with Down syndrome.
The St. Clair County Down Syndrome Support Group was formed in 1988 as a non-profit(501c3) organization to provide a forum for parents and families of individuals with Down Syndrome to meet, give each other support, and share information.
The support group meets monthly following the school year, where parents discuss concerns, give support, and enjoy each other's company. We schedule guest speakers to give presentations on topics of interest for the group.
We also plan activities for the entire family, which include summer picnics and other fun outings such as bowling. We host the annual Buddy Walk in the fall to celebrate Down Syndrome awareness month in October and to promote inclusion and acceptance of people with Down syndrome.
We are affiliated with the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) and the National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC). Parents are encouraged to share information and share experiences.
